Nemanja Matic believes moving to a big club such as Manchester United from Chelsea was a positive thing for the Serbian midfielder.
The defensive star completed a surprise £40m move to Old Trafford from the defending Premier League champions in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea FC sold Matic despite the Serbia international playing a key role alongside N’Golo Kante in the west London side’s title success in 2016-17.
The 29-year-old won two Premier League titles and the League Cup during three and a half seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Matic has already made a positive impact at Manchester United under his former Chelsea FC boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The former Benfica star produced a man of the match performance in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea FC in the Premier League last weekend.
Matic opened up about his decision to move to Manchester United from Chelsea FC last summer.
“I played for Chelsea for three-and-a-half years and I gave my best to win against them and show my quality again,” Matic is quoted as saying by Metro .
“I didn’t have anything to prove to them. I wanted to show my new club that I deserve to wear this Manchester United shirt.
“This was a big win and I hope the team will continue like this because every game in this league is a war.
“I don’t want to speak about why I left Chelsea. I will keep that to myself. I’m happy in Manchester and that’s it. Moving to United was good for me. I play for a big club.”
Matic netted seven times in 151 games in all competitions since his £21m move to Chelsea FC from Manchester United in the 2014 January transfer window.
Manchester United battled to a goalless draw with La Liga side Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash last weekend.
