Manchester United closed the gap on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League to 13 points with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield on Saturday after City drew 1-1 with Burnley earlier in the day.

While the Reds only had 12 games to try and overhaul the gargantuan deficit, they are only eight points clear of fiftht-placed Tottenham and know they must not get complacent if they wish to remain in the top four.

That has to be the very least of their ambitions this season and they will keep chipping away at City's lead until it is over.

However, the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January from rivals Arsenal has given United renewed hope that they can challenge for the title in the near future.

The Chilean play maker scored his first goal for United in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield, adding to a Romelu lukaku  strike.

Sanchez goal was a rebound to his own missed penalty, but he was seriously influential throughout regardless.

He was fouled seven times during the game at Old Trafford - the most times a player has been fouled in a Premier League game this season.
