EFCC closes bribery case

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday shut its case in the trial of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Rickey Tarfa, for charged gift and endeavor to debase the course of equity.


The indicting counsel for the EFCC, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, told the managing judge, Justice A.A. Akintoye, on Monday that the indictment had no more observer to bring for the situation.

The EFCC had called six witnesses, who affirmed against Tarfa in the trial which started in March a year ago.

Reacting to Oyedepo on Monday, Tarfa's legal counselor, Mr. Jelili Owonikoko (SAN), looked for a suspension to empower the resistance to break down its case and settle on the progression to take.

Subsequently, Justice Akintoye deferred till November 16, 2017 to get notification from the safeguard.

The EFCC summoned Tarfa on March 9, 2016 on 27 checks, wherein he was blamed for offering delight to a few judges to supposedly debase the course of equity.

The counter join organization affirmed, for example, that Tarfa offered N5.3m delight to a judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa, to professedly trade off the judge.

The EFCC prosecutor, Oyedepo, told the court that Tarfa damaged Section 64 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, No.11, 2011.
